Installing gshade.
Gshade is a forked version of reshade created specificially for ease of install and use with ffxiv. Everyone used gshade because it was simpler. One big thing that stands out is gshade shaders cut out the UI for you so your ability buttons don't change colors with the background.

The GShade drama is a little overblown, the "malware" was to prevent the installer from being tampered with and Marot has already removed it in favor of a more traditional prevention method. I tried a multiple of things and my game STILL crashes. When I launch the game, the top window for Gshade says ācompiling shadersā itāll get to a shader and then freeze and crash. Historically people switched from Reshade to Gshade because Gshade was easier to install and had some features that only were usable on Reshade with a lot of hassle (like depth shaders), eventually Reshade made that easier but by then everyone switched to Gshade and generally people were happy until the recent shitshow, but current iterations of Gshade and Reshade are basically the same.

Yea installing GSHade is basically just downloading the zip and running the script file. So your instructions will work just the same. I believe Steam Deck uses Arch Linux, and Windows games run via the Proton compatibility layer. And you can select a specific one to use if Steamās default has issues.
